The skin is the largest organ in the body. It also is our
primary source of protection from our environment. Many new technologies
are now available to reverse and prevent the effects of skin aging. Prevention
First is on the leading of edge of providing these technologies for our
patients. Trends in skin care are moving away from invasive treatments
like skin ablation toward gentler, aesthetic treatments that are painless
and involve minimal side effects.
Skin aging produces the following effects:
Thickening of the epidermis. The epidermis is the outer layer of the skin.
It is composed of dead skin cells. When we are 18 year old, this layer
is 0.3 millimeters thick. By the time we are 50-60 years old, it is 0.9
mm thick. This results in our skin appearing dull and scaly.
Thinning of the dermis. This is the inner supporting layer
of the skin. The dermis is composed primarily of collagen. Collagen gives
of skin its elasticity and texture. Loss of collagen results in loose
skin and wrinkles.
Uneven pigmentation. The pigment in our skin develops brown
and dark spots. Sun damage is the primary cause. This can be seen as the
brown spots commonly known as age spots. We can also see it as uneven
skin color.
Changes in blood vessel size. This results in skin redness
and “spider veins.”
Prevention First provides technologies to address these
skin aging issues. Prevention First’s skin care services also provide
other important treatments. These include:

Laser
Aging Prevention and Wrinkle Reduction
Aramis laser treatments stimulate collagen renewal
and remodeling in the living layer of the skin called the dermis.
Loss of collagen is one of the primary causes of wrinkles and aging
skin.
Reversal – 4 treatments
Maintenance – every 6-12 months
(Repeated maintenance helps prevent further effects of aging skin.)
Laser-Active Acne Treatment
Aramis laser treatments shrink sebaceous glands
and reduce skin oiliness. Mild and moderate acne can be effectively
treated without the side effects of drugs such as Accutane.
Reversal – 6 treatments
Maintenance – every 3-12 months |
Acne Scar Reduction
(Includes Laser & Medical Microdermabrasion)
Aramis laser treatments combined with microdermabrasion can improve the
appearance of acne scars. Building collagen at the base of the scars improves
their appearance. Even old scars respond well. Chemical peels are often
added to enhance the effect. Many other scars also respond well to this
treatment.
Reversal – 4-6 treatments
Maintenance – usually not necessary

Photofacial – Spots & Spider Vein Removal
Intense pulsed light (IPL) evens out the color and
tone of skin. By targeting hemoglobin and melanin, IPL removes brown and
red spots. Small spider veins and flat “age spots” also respond
well. The procedure provides the best results when followed up with microdermabrasion
after about a week.
Reversal – 4 treatments
Maintenance – 12-36 months
Youth-Capturing
Injectables
Injectables contain safe and proven medical products
to enhance the appearance of skin and reduce wrinkles. They can
also greatly reverse the appearance of aging on skin. Wrinkles on
the forehead and eye areas respond well to BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.
The effects last 3-6 months. Deeper wrinkles and those on the lower
face and mouth respond well to filler injections such as Restylane,
whcih lasts 9-12 months. |

Complete Skin Fitness Package
Prevention First’s Signature Service - Includes
microdermabrasion, Aramis laser and photofacial. Optional BOTOX® Cosmetic
injections can enhance the effect. The skin fitness package does for the
skin what exercise, weight and cholesterol control can do for your heart.
The program reverses many of the effects of aging and maintains good skin
health. BOTOX® Cosmetic is an optional complementary treatment that
can provide immediate improvement and enhance results.
Reversal – 4 treatments
Maintenance – every 6 months
Stretch Mark Reduction
Aramis laser combined with microdermabrasion builds collagen at the base
of stretch marks and improves their appearance. Even old stretch marks
respond well.
Reversal – 4 treatments
Maintenance – usually not necessary
 |
Medical Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion utilizes small particles to smooth
the skin’s surface and equalize skin tone. Medical-grade skin peels
are often added to enhance the effects. Prevention First has well-trained
skin care professionals for the best results.
Reversal package – 4 treatments
Acne scars – 4-6 treatments
Maintenance – every 2-3 months |
Medical-Grade Facial Peels
Facial peels remove the outer, “dead” layers
of the skin or epidermis. This allows the epidermis to become more permeable
to nutrients. In addition, peels help reduce fine lines, smooth the skin,
reduce the appearance of scars, and give a softer, suppler appearance
to skin. They also reduce uneven pigmentation. Medical peels are only
available under physician supervision.
Reversal – 4 treatments
Maintenance – every 6 months
Laser Hair Reduction
The MeDioStar laser can perform permanent hair reduction
on all skin types and body areas. Darker hairs respond better. Since each
hair follicle contains 3-7 hairs, multiple treatments are necessary for
optimal results. Medical evaluation is important for unusual hair growth
patterns.
Removal – 6 treatments
Maintenance – not necessary
Medical-Grade Cosmeceuticals and Cosmetics
Moisturizers, cleansers, facial peels and sunscreens
available from physicians can provide a greater effect than those from
spas or salons. Prescription-level products are available, and Prevention

Iredale Mineral Cosmetics.
