Acne treatment

If you have more than two pimples most of the time, you are a good candidate for laser acne treatment. When bacteria clogs the pores, skin produces a waxy substance that we commonly refer to as oil, and pimples and acne form. Acne carries with it the risk of mild and/or permanent scarring. Laser acne treatments have the capability to not only help reduce the acne itself but to remove acne-induced scars as well.

The first ClearConcept acne treatment center
ClearConcept combines proven acne treatments to aggressively treat acne while avoiding Accutane whenever possible. ClearConcept involves the use of topical treatments with cosmeceuticals, chemical peels and topical retinoids. In addition, ClearConcept uses a special microdermabrasion process called WaterBeam. The WaterBeam uses pressurized water to apply topical therapies that penetrate deep into the skin. WaterBeam can also greatly enhance the clearing of active pimples and blackheads.

ClearConcept became FDA-approved on March 15, 2005, and has already been used in England for several years. The revolutionary aspect of ClearConcept is its use of light technologies.

Omnilux system combined with blue and red light can clear up acne when other methods fail. Two 20-minute, painless sessions per week under the light for four weeks constitutes the usual treatment course. The blue light kills bacteria, while the red light turns off the inflammatory cascade. Red light can also restore pigment to Vitiligo patients, which no other treatment is capable of. The Omnilux is also used in photodynamic therapy (PDT). In PDT, Levulan is applied to the active acne lesions and is activated using the light. This treatment can be highly effective in reducing acne lesions. PDT requires the patient to avoid sunlight entirely for 48 hours following the procedure.

Precautions must be taken when undergoing ClearConcept treatment including wearing proper eye protection, applying a catalytic agent to lesions with blue light and remaining indoors for 48 hours post-treatment.

Aramis laser treatment for acne
Another revolutionary light therapy is the Aramis laser. Many patients respond to Aramis laser treatments even when they have failed to respond to other treatments. Aramis shrinks sebaceous glands and reduces skin oiliness. Aramis also reduces the appearance of acne scars.

These combined therapies can treat a great majority of acne cases without the use of Accutane. Teens, young adults and older adults are all excellent candidates for these treatments.
